Joe Allen set for Stoke City switch
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is set to undergo a medical ahead of a £13 million move to Stoke City, according to reports.
The Mirror claims that the 26-year-old Welsh midfielder is set to undergo a routine medical examination before putting pen to paper on a move to Stoke that will see the Potters pay £13 million for the man Liverpool signed from Swansea City three years ago.
Allen has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven since moving to Anfield in 2013. But last season, the Welshman strung together some impressive performances for Jurgen Klopp's men, and was a key figure in the Reds' run to the UEFA Europa League final, before eventually losing 3-1 to Sevilla.
Allen was then able to carry his sparkling form into this summer's UEFA European Championship in France, as he was outstanding for Wales, conducting the midfield alongside Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey, as the Dragons' remarkable campaign saw them reach the semi-final, before losing to eventual champions Portugal.
His impressive displays, saw Allen voted into UEFA's official team of the tournament, while maintaining a passing accuracy of 95 per cent, as well as completing 100 per cent of his dribbles at the tournament -- a success rate unmatched by any other player with more than five attempted dribbles.
Despite reported interest from Swansea, Sevilla and Manchester United, Stoke appear to have won the battle for Allen's signature.
