Sunderland targeting Will Keane

New Sunderland manager David Moyes is set to raid old club Manchester United for Will Keane, according to reports.

The Sun is reporting that Moyes is keen to add to his striking options, with Manchester United forward Will Keane on his radar.

United are thought to be open to offers for the 23-year-old with their asking price said to be around £6.5 million for the former England under 21 international.

Sunderland were reliant on Jermain Defoe to carry their goal scoring burden last season, but at 33 years old, the former England striker cannot be regarded as a long term solution.

So Moyes is looking at potential targets, and he feels Keane fits the bill.

Keane spent the first half of last season on loan at Preston North End where he made 22 appearances and scored two goals.

But the forward was recalled by Louis van Gaal on 31 December 2015 with United suffering an injury crisis.

Despite the amount of injuries at United, Keane only made two first team appearances for a total of 24 minutes of football.

His last appearance for United came during an FA Cup tie away to Shrewsbury Town in which he picked up an injury after coming on as a substitute.

His injury led to Marcus Rashford being promoted to the first team, and the teenager quickly established himself as a key player. Following Rashford's emergence, Keane was unable to get back in the side.
