Fabian Schar back on Arsenal radar

Arsenal are set to revive their interest in Swiss centre-back Fabian Schar this summer. The 24-year-old was on the Gunners radar last year before he opted to join Hoffenheim from FC Basel. 

Arsene Wenger's side are in dire need of a new centre-half after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for five months with a knee injury.

Valencia's Skhodran Mustafi is the Gunners' preferred option for the transfer window, but should any complexity arise, they may decide to look elsewhere.

Schar impressed for Switzerland at Euro 2016 in France, and this caught the eye of Wenger, who was part of the French commentary team at the competition.

The defender has previously attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Hoffenheim currently rate Schar in excess of £12m.
