Arsenal back in for Fabian Schar

Arsenal are looking to revive their interest in long-term target and Hoffenheim defender Fabian Schar.

The Switzerland international was previously on the Gunners radar in 2014 before he joined the Bundesliga outfit from Basel.

German daily Bild says the Gunners will step up their pursuit for Schar with Gabriel and Per Mertesacker set to spend a significant spell on the sidelines.

Gabriel suffered an ankle injury in his side's friendly win over Manchester City whilst Mertesacker damaged his knee ligaments in training.

Schar is currently rated in the £8m range, and a move could well be on the cards before the transfer window draws to an end.

The 24-year-old was part of the Swiss side that lost out to Poland on penalties in the last 16 of the European championships.
