Arsenal could be set to make a sensational swoop for Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony, with the Gunners preparing a £30 million bid, according to reports.

The Daily Star claims that Arsenal are considering making a shocking £30 million move to sign Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City, as their search for a new striker continues.

Bony is considered surplus to requirements at the Etihad this summer, as new manager Pep Guardiola has set about reshaping the squad he inherited from Manuel Pellegrini.

Bony joined City from Swansea City 18 months ago in a deal worth £28 million. The powerful forward has been unable to establish himself as a first team regular during his time in Manchester, with Argentinian superstar Sergio Aguero the preferred choice to lead the line for the Blues.

Swansea have been linked with making a bid to take Bony back to the Liberty Stadium this summer, and now Arsenal have emerged as surprise candidates for his signature.

The Gunners are known to be in the market for a striker this summer, as Arsene Wenger looks to improve his goal scoring options.

Arsenal made a £20 million bid for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy in June, triggering the former non-league player’s release clause. But after some deliberation, the England striker elected to stay with Leicester.

The Gunners also reportedly made a €50 million plus Olivier Giroud offer for Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuaín, who broke the Serie A single season scoring record during the last campaign, netting 36 times for Napoli. But the Former Real Madrid and River Plate player instead joined Juventus is a €90 million deal.
