Will the Red Devils make a late move for Gabigol?

Manchester United have not yet made an official bid for Santos striker Gabriel “Gabigol” Borbosa, however the Red Devils are interested in the Brazilain teenager, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that, despite not yet having made a formal approach, Manchester United manager José Mourinho is an admirer of Santos’ teenage striker Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa, and could make a move for the player before the transfer window closes.

Santos president Modesto Roma has insisted that the only firm offers that have been made for Barbosa thus far have come from Italian sides Juventus and Inter Milan.

Roma also insisted that whether Barbosa leaves Santos this summer is completely up to the player himself, providing an interested club meets his contractual buyout clause.

That clause is believed to be somewhere in the region of €30 million.

United have already spent around £150 million on transfers this summer, having broken the world transfer record to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in an £89 million deal, as well as bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free from Paris Saint Germain, Eric Bailly for £30 million from Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26 million.

Mourinho is also keen on adding an experienced defender to his squad, with a move for Southampton captain José Fonte being lined up, but, according to reports, United must sell some surplus squad players before they can make any further additions.
