Adebayor furious over Lyon snub
Adebayor furious over Lyon snub
Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is angry after he missed out on a move to Lyon. The French outfit opted against a deal after they found out the player could miss a couple of weeks due to his participation for Togo at the African Cup of Nations.
Reports initially suggested that the 32-year-old had a disagreement over contractual terms, and it was upto the player to re-negotiate with Lyon for the move to go through.
But, according to Adebayor, it was Les Gones, who took the backstep after they came to know of his likely involvement at the African Cup held from January 14 to February 5 (2017).
The Togo international was expected to have a medical examination on Saturday, but he was also reluctant to ignore his international duties, and this pulled the plug on the proposed deal.
Adebayor is a free-agent after he was released from Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
