Would Griezmann be open to a Premier League move?

Antoine Griezmann has labelled Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba a genius, amid speculation that he could soon join his French national team colleague at Old Trafford, according to reports in Spain.

Antoine Griezmann spoke to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, and outlined his admiration and close friendship with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

“Pogba with the ball is a genius,” The Atlético Madrid star said.

Griezmann went on to detail how the pair grew close during a tough time at the beginning on this summer’s European Championship, when they were both singled out for heavy criticism after a disappointing group stage display against Romania.

The former Real Sociedad forward has been linked with a potential summer switch to United in recent weeks, and added further fuel to that fire by admitting that his hero growing up was none other than Red Devils legend David Beckham.

Griezmann said that the reason he wears the number 7 and tends to opt for long sleeve shirts is because Beckham did the same.

But the 25-year-old insisted that he is not thinking of a move to the Premier League, and is only focussing on the job at hand with Atléti, as he praised the work of manager Diego Simone.

It has been speculated that United and Chelsea would both be willing to meet Griezmann’s €100 million release clause in order to take him to England – a fee that would still fall short of the figure United forked out to re-sign Pogba from Juventus this summer.
