Glen Johnson emerges as Barca target
Stoke City defender Glen Johnson has been linked with a surprise switch to Barcelona in the January transfer window. The Catalan giants are on the search for a new right-back with Aleix Vidal set to leave Camp Nou.
The 31-year-old joined the Potters from Liverpool in the summer of 2015, and has since appeared in 33 games in all competitions.
According to reports in Spain, Barca are planning a winter bid for the England international as they seek to find a low cost solution on the right side of the defence.
Luis Enrique has opted to play Sergi Samper as his preferred right-back this term, and this has seen Aleix Vidal become frustrated with his lack of playing time.
Nevertheless, a move for Johnson looks slightly insane, given he is on the wrong side of 30 whilst Samuel Umtiti is more than capable of featuring at right-back for Barcelona.
Johnson is currently nursing a thigh injury which he sustained while training with England earlier this month.
