Cavani could replace Ibrahimovic next season?

Manchester United will reportedly make an offer for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani at the end of the season. The Uruguay international is seen as a potential replacement for veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavani, 29, has been locked in talks over a possible extension at Parc des Princes, and it is understood that he could be sold next summer, should he fail to resolve his contractual status.

According to The Express, United boss Jose Mourinho could take advantage of Cavani's situation, and bring in to Old Trafford at the start of next season.

Manchester United do have the option of extending Ibrahimovic's stay until the summer of 2018, but they could be tempted to cut short his stay next summer, should Cavani decide to join the club.

Cavani struggled to play as the outright centre-forward during Ibrahimovic's spell at Paris Saint-Germain, and he is unlikely to entertain thoughts of such a situation with the Mancunian giants.

The former Napoli man has about 18 months on his existing deal at Paris Saint-Germain.
