United to help Berba to improve his fitness

Veteran striker Dimitar Berbatov has been offered the chance to train with the Manchester United first-team as he bids to find a fresh club in the New Year.

The 35-year-old, who represented the Red Devils between 2008 and 2012, has been out-of-contract since his release from Greek side PAOK at the end of the last term.

According to Sportal, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has allowed the Bulgarian footballer to train at the Carrington complex in order to regain his fitness ahead of a potential move next month.

Swansea City boss Bob Bradley has been in contact with the player's agent, and it is understood that the club will be in the running to sign the former Bulgaria international.

Berbatov amassed 56 goals in 149 outings for Manchester United, whilst winning two Premier League titles in the process.
