Wayne Rooney celebrating his record breaking goal at the weekend

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told Wayne Rooney that he will not get in the way of a big money move to China, if the striker decides that is what he wants.

Rumours have arisen in the last few days that the England international is the latest on a long list of transfer targets for the Chinese Super League, with champions Guangzhou Evergrande and Beijing Guoan said to be interested. The weekly wage that could be on the table for Rooney is a staggering £700,000.

On Saturday the 31 year old broke the all time goal scoring record for Manchester United by netting his 250th goal for The Red Devils, a record that was previously help by Sir Bobby Charlton. Rooney is also England's all time record goalscorer, with 53 international goals in 119 appearances, a title he again took from Sir Bobby Charlton.

Despite his fantastic record, Rooney has not been able to secure his place in the starting lineup for the Manchester side, coming on as a substitute on 10 occasions.

At this stage of his career, this is a big decision for Wayne Rooney, with a transfer away from Old Trafford likely to be his last. The eyewatering amounts of money on offer may tempt him, however Mourinho's men have been playing well of late and the striker may decide to stay and compete for his place at the club he has spent the majority of his career, as they push for a top four finish.
