Antonio Conte hints at late January signing

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has hinted that his side could bring in a couple of players before the transfer window slams shut.

The Blues are currently cruising at the top of the standings after having won 18 of their 22 outings in the Premier League.

A whole host of names including Arturo Vidal and Hakan Calhanoglu have been linked with the league toppers this month, and Conte does not rule out a late signing or two before the deadline.

"I don't know what will happen but the club know my thoughts on this. I think we need to improve our squad in the number of players, I think it is only this," he told reporters.

"I read a lot of good names in the newspapers. Honestly, I don't know and I repeat that if something happens I'm happy."

Chelsea will look to progress to the Fifth round of the FA Cup when they host Brentford in the west London derby on Saturday afternoon.
