Chelsea all clear to sign Alvaro Morata?
Premier League leaders Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to sign Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window. The Spaniard is assessing his future at Real Madrid following his limited playing time this term.
The Spain international has largely played backup to Karim Benzema for the striker's position this season, and he is now said to be desperate for a move elsewhere.
According to AS, the former Juve star could be lining up a switch to Stamford Bridge in the summer following Los Blancos' intentions to extend Benzema's contract.
Benzema has been a credible goalscorer for the European champions over the years, and the club are now prepared to offer him a fresh deal which would extend his stay beyond the summer of 2019.
Morata had returned from Juventus last summer with a view to earning a regular role, but Zinedine Zidane's reluctance to play him, could lure him to one of his suitors next season.
Real Madrid currently rate Morata at £60m, and nothing less than that will entice them into a sale.
