Barca open to Luis Enrique extension

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu hints that manager Luis Enrique will be rewarded with a fresh deal in the coming months.

The 46-year-old's contract is due to expire in the summer, and reports have claimed that he could step down from his role following his side's humiliating 4-0 Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain.

Enrique's men are currently four points adrift of Real Madrid in La Liga with a game in hand, and this leaves the Copa del Rey as their only realistic chance of lifting a trophy.

In an interview with TV3, Bartomeu admitted that his side want Enrique to continue for many years to come, and discussions are likely to be held in April over his future.

The Catalan giants only managed to clinch a 2-1 over Leganes via a last gasp penalty from Lionel Messi, and this has not gone well with the faithful who see their club on the verge of a last 16 Champions League exit - for the first time in a decade.
