Mourinho furious about Rostov pitch

Mourinho is angry about the standard of the pitch

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his fears and anger about the state of the pitch that his team will play on tomorrow. United are in Russia for the first leg of their Europa League final sixteen team with FC Rostov.

After arriving in Russia, Mourinho was able to inspect the pitch ahead of Thursday's match, leave the Portuguese manager angry about the standard of the playing surface, and worried about the safety of his players.

Mourinho has voiced his concerns to UEFA, who responded by telling him that his players are insured, should anything happen to them as a result of the pitch. FC Rostov manager Ivan Daniliants has commented during the build up to the match that the Manchester United players could find their pitch a problem.

The Manchester United manager compared the pitch in Russia to that of the Bird's Nest in Beijing, where the Red Devils were scheduled to play rivals Manchester City in a pre season friendly. As a result of the poor pitch conditions, both teams agreed to cancel the match.

The lineup for the match may now change, as players such as Henrihk Mkhitaryan, who is returning from an injury, may not be risked on the poor pitch. Mourinho did confirm however that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been issued a three match domestic ban this week, will feature in the match.
