Arsenal, Spurs to battle for Florian Lejeune
North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly go head-to-head to sign ex-Manchester City defender Florian Lejeune in the summer.
The 25-year-old centre-back currently plys his trade for Spanish minnows Eibar, who have performed above expectations in La Liga this term.
According to The Mirror, both Gunners and Spurs are monitoring the progress of Lejeune, who left the Citizens for Ipurua last summer.
Lejeune has cemented himself at the heart of the defence for Eibar this season, but it is his versatility to play in holding midfield which appears to have captured the attention of the pairing.
The Frenchman currently has a £8.5m escape clause in his contract, and it could come to which club is willing to offer him a better package combined with more opportunities to feature in the first-team.
Both Gunners and Spurs have found themselves struggling in the absence of their first-choice defenders, and the need for additional cover will be high on their wishlist for the summer.
Lejeune has earned the third-most game-time among all Eibar players during the ongoing campaign.
