Jose Mourinho given green light to sign La Liga star
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly confident of signing Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann after club manager Diego Simeone admitted the insecurity over the player's situation.
The France international inked a fresh five-year contract prior to the European championships last summer despite being the subject of interest from Premier League club Arsenal.
Since then, the forward has impressed in the Atleti shirt despite their minor setback in the Spanish La Liga, and his performances have caught the eye of Mourinho.
United have been associated with a move for Griezmann during the course of the campaign, and according to The Sun, the Special One is confident of luring Griezmann with the club set to trigger his £86m release clause.
Simeone has already insisted that the club are helpless to keep hold of their asset, should his valuation be matched, but there is still the option of offering a new long-term deal in order to raise his asking price.
The 26-year-old has netted 22 goals in 40 outings across all competitions for Atletico Madrid this term.
