Ibrahimovic in talks over new contract

Ibrahimovic is in contract talks with Manchester United

After an uncertain time and a number of clubs declaring their interest in signing him, Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed that he in in talks with the club over extending his stay at Old Trafford.

Zlatan signed for the Premier League club on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain last summer and has been a sensation for the club. Despite doubts that he would be too old to establish himself in the Premier League, Ibrahimovic is the club's top scorer this season, netting twenty six times in all competitions so far.

Following his winning goal in the EFL Cup final last month, manager Jose Mourinho said that he would love the Swedish striker to stay at the club, but wasn't sure whether he would or not. Since then, Ibrahimovic himself has been quiet about the situation, although several clubs have declared interest in him, including a big money offer from MLS side LA Galaxy.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ibrahimovic confirmed that he is now in talks with the Red Devils about extending his contract with the club. He has played in Europe's biggest leagues and scored consistently in all of them. At the age of thirty five, it would suggest that Zlatan's career is coming to an end, but whilst he can continue to score goals at the highest level, there is no reason yet for him to stop.
