Man City close in on Sporting midfielder
Manchester City are reportedly in advanced negotiations to wrap up a summer deal for highly-rated Sporting midfielder William Carvalho.
The Portugal international has been long linked with a Premier League move with Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and West Bromwich Albion all being credited with an interest.
A report from The Star suggests that the Citizens are in the front seat to sign the Euro 2016 winner after he switched to a new agency, which is owned by Pep Guardiola's brother.
As of now, Ivorian star Yaya Toure is due to depart at the expiry of his contract in the summer, and Carvalho is being seen as the ideal replacement given his commanding presence at the centre of the park.
Carvalho had previously claimed that he would like to lift the Primeira Liga title in Lisbon before opting for a fresh challenge, but he is now prepared to move on as he approaches the prime of his career.
The 24-year-old has also cemented his place in the national setup having already earned 31 caps since his debut back in November 2013.
