Barcelona not keen on Leicester City star

Spanish giants Barcelona are not considering a summer approach for Leicester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez.

The 26-year-old played a key role for the Foxes last campaign as his 17 goals guided them to a maiden and historic league title.

Mahrez has since failed to showcase his best form in the Premier League, but in spite of this, a report from Sport suggested that the attacker could be off to Barcelona in the summer.

Respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has now put cold water on the ongoing speculation by claiming that Mahrez will not be pursued by the Catalan outfit during the off-season.

"The simple answer is Riyad Mahrez is not the kind of player Barcelona are looking at." he told Sky Sports News.

Mahrez had been the subject of interest from Arsenal during the previous summer transfer window, but he opted to snub their advances for a new four-year deal during the start of the campaign.
