Mourinho questions Luke Shaw's commitment
Luke Shaw has failed to establish himself in the Manchester United team under Jose Mourinho this season. Several teams have shown interest in signing him from Old Trafford, and now Mourinho has revealed one of the reasons why he isn't in his plans.
The twenty one year old arrived at Manchester United with expectations that he would make the left back position his own for many years to come, although it has not worked out for him since his move from Southampton.
In September 2015, Shaw suffered a horrific double leg break in a Champions League tie, keeping him out for a prolonged period. Although physically recovered, Shaw has struggled to get his place back in the team.
The England defender has made fifteen appearances for the Red Devils this season, with his most recent coming against Bournemouth in March.
Speaking about why Shaw rarely appears in the team, manager Jose Mourinho has revealed it is not all down to ability. When comparing Shaw with the likes of fellow Manchester United defenders Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian, the Portuguese mastermind said that he "cannot compare the way he (Shaw) trains and commits, the focus, the ambition. He is a long way behind."
Shaw has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur in the next transfer window, with the possibility of Danny Rose going the other way. However, these doubts about Shaw's mental attributes may make Spurs think twice.
