Chelsea leading race to sign Monaco anchorman
Premier League leaders Chelsea are reportedly heading the queue to sign AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in the summer.
The 22-year-old has one of the many standout performers for the Principality outfit this season and has played a key role in their domestic title push.
While Monaco are cruising towards their first Ligue 1 title since the millennium, there are also in contention for the Champions League crown after having reached the semi-final stage.
French publication L'Equipe claims that the Blues are leading the race to sign the highly-rated anchorman ahead of their rivals which include Manchester United and Arsenal.
Bakayoko has averaged around 5 tackles/interceptions during the ongoing campaign, and he has been identified as the perfect player to provide competition to Nemanja Matic for the central midfield role.
The former Rennes man has already snubbed negotiations over a new deal at Stade Louis II, and it is suggested that Monaco would cash in on his services rather than let his value drop in the coming years.
