Argentina international Sergio Romero could end his association with Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The former Sampdoria man has had limited first-team action at Old Trafford with David de Gea owning the number one role.

Italian publication Tuttomercato claims that Inter Milan are prepared to offer Romero a return to the Serie A where he could compete with Samir Handanovic for the shotstopper's position.

Romero had been spotted in the city of Milan over the weekend and it is suggested that he may have communicated with Nerazzurri representatives over a summer switch.

The Argentine No.1 will receive a two-year contract with the famous old club, who are prepared to push for a Champions League qualification spot next season.

Meanwhile, United may have to also contend with the departure of David de Gea, whose proposed move to Real Madrid appears to be at an advanced stage.

Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak has been identified as the potential player to take over the number one role under Jose Mourinho next term.
