Arsene Wenger keen on Oxlade-Chamberlain extension

Wenger wants long-term 'Ox' stay

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reiterated his desire to keep hold of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain following his impressive form for the Gunners in recent weeks.

The England international won the club's Player of the Month award for April after his man of the match performance against Manchester City which guaranteed his side's passage to the FA Cup final.

Oxlade-Chamberlain currently has just 14 months on his existing deal at the Emirates, and this has captured the attention of league rivals Liverpool, who are on the search for attacking recruitments.

In spite of this, Wenger is confident of securing the long-term future of the versatile ace after his vast improvement on the playing field over the past month.

"His performances have been convincing and positive. It looks like he makes a move forward. He has all the qualities to play well there," Wenger is quoted as saying on Sky Sports in reference to 'The Ox's' new position at right wing-back.

"Personally I think he has to commit his future to the club and I hope he will do so this summer."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has started just 14 of his 27 league outings for Arsenal this term, but he will hoping to improve on this record after having established himself as a regular in the new 3-4-2-1 formation.
