Everton, Chelsea track Mateo Musacchio
Premier League duo Everton and Chelsea are monitoring the performances of Villareal defender Mateo Musacchio ahead of a potential attempt to secure his services in the summer.
The Argentina international is regarded as one of the most consistent performers in the Spanish La Liga, and he has previously been linked with a move to La Liga holders Barcelona.
AC Milan are believed to be leading the race to sign the 26-year-old at the end of the season, but according to The Liverpool Echo, they could potential competition from Everton, who are keen on building up a squad capable of challenging for Champions League football.
Meanwhile, Premier League leaders Chelsea also have an eye on the central defender with Antonio Conte keen to replace outgoing skipper John Terry in the summer.
Musacchio currently has just a year left on his contract, and he could be tempted by a fresh challenge after having missed on Champions League football with close margins over the past few years.
The defender has appeared 29 times across all competitions for Villareal, who are five points adrift of fourth-placed Sevilla, who hold the final Champions League qualification spot.
