Mario Balotelli could be the subject of interest from Spanish minnows Las Palmas once his contract concludes with Nice this summer.

The Italy international has had a fine season in the French Ligue 1 this term with his 17 goals in 27 appearances helping his side attain Champions League football for next season.

Balotelli has yet to pen a proposed extension beyond the summer, and according to Cadena Copa, Las Palmas have jumped ahead in the race for the Italy international.

The La Liga outfit are said to be ambitious over their plans for the 2017/18 season after having secured their top-flight status for another year.

Balotelli, formerly of Liverpool and Manchester City, could still lean towards a new contract with Nice, who will ply their trade with the Europe's elite next season.

The 26-year-old has not earned a call-up with the Italian national side since the World Cup finals in 2014, and he will seek to put things right ahead of the return of the showpiece event next year.
