West Ham move fast to secure Zabaleta signing

Pablo Zabaleta will join West Ham United when his Manchester City contract expires at the end of the

After it was announced by Manchester City that Pablo Zabaleta would not be offered a new contract by the club, West Ham have moved quickly to secure his signature. Zabaleta will be the first signing of what is expected to be a busy summer for the Hammers, as Slaven Bilic looks for a much improved performance next season.

Zabaleta is the first of what looks set to be a long list of players departing The Etihad this summer, but he has not had to wait long to find himself a new club. The Daily Mail reports that Zabaleta has signed a two year deal with West Ham, with Bilic keen to get the deal done before other clubs made offers.

Zabaleta was brought on as a late substitute in Manchester City's victory over Leicester on Saturday, which saw him greeted by a standing ovation from the fans. The Argentina international has been at the club since 2008, and has become a big favourite with the supporters.

Another player that West Ham United are said to be interested in signing this summer is Yaya Toure, who is another one of Guardiola's squad that sees his contract expire in the summer, with a new deal yet to be offered.
