Liverpool to let Mamadou Sakho leave this summer for £30 million

Mamadou Sakho will be allowed to leave Liverpool, but only for £30 million

The Reds have slapped an enormous £30 million price tag on the French defender after his immensely successful loan spell at Crystal Palace, according to The Guardian

The 27-year-old left Anfield for Selhurst Park after his infamous bust-up with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp but has since been one of the top defenders in the Premier League this season. He has been instrumental in Crystal Palace's survival in the top flight, most notably in the wins over Chelsea and Arsenal.

A knee ligament injury sustained against Tottenham last month has kept Sakho out of the squad but he was with the team in their lap of honor after Palace demolished Hull City 4-0 to ensure their Premier League status next season.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish sang Sakho's praises after victory against Hull, "You can’t con anyone that he didn’t make a massive difference. We won some massive games with him. He’s a really nice person, a big character, he’s got the respect of all the players, and it’s one we’d like to do. But, of course, we have a lot of things we need to do in the summer, and the money needs to work for us and for Liverpool."

When asked about Palace's interest in making his loan move a permanent one, Parish said, "I’m sure there’ll be a negotiation on that. If we can make it work, of course we’d like to, I’m not going to try and be coy or clever on that. He’s a very good player and I think he likes being with us. We like him. Let’s hope we can do it."

While Palace have clearly indicated their interest in Sakho, it remains to be seen if the player himself wishes to stay there or play for a team competing in the Champions League next season.
