Rodriguez edging closer to summer exit

Real Madrid are willing to part ways with Colombia ace James Rodriguez this summer, should a club table an offer in excess of £63m.

The 25-year-old has been heavily tipped for a Premier League move over the past month with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City among the contenders for his signature.

According to The Star, the attacker has seemingly made up his mind for a fresh challenge after failing to make himself a regular under manager Zinedine Zidane.

Rodriguez was substituted early in the second half against Sevilla over the weekend, and he managed to get a standing ovation from the club's faithful on his slow march to the touchline.

The former Monaco man has never lived up to his hype since his £63m move in 2014, and it is reported that the European champions would demand a similar package to let go of his services this summer.

Rodriguez has been rumoured to have verbally agreed terms with United, according to RCN Radio, but the deal could hinder on whether Jose Mourinho's team make the Champions League next term.

Manchester United can qualify for Europe's prime competition next season, should they manage to defeat a youthful Ajax team in the Europa League final later this month.

Despite making just 13 La Liga starts, Rodriguez has contributed eight goals and six assists for Real Madrid, who look on course to break their five-year wait for the Spanish title.
