Alisher Usmanov still keen on Arsenal takeover

Russian magnate Alisher Usmanov remains keen on becoming Arsenal's major shareholder despite a failed takeover earlier last month.
The 63-year-old, who owns a 30 percent stake in the north London club, placed a £1.2bn bid in order to acquire a 67 percent ownership, only to see Stan Kroenke knock back his attempts.
Kroenke has since warned off any potential suitors by insisting that his shares 'are, and never have been, for sale', but this has not ended Usmanov's quest to rule the club.
According to Sky Sports News, Usmanov will hold key discussions with his advisors later this week with a view to making an increased offer to Kroenke.
The Uzbek-born businessman has always been critical of Kroenke's management of the Gunners, and he feels the club have been let down by the American's lack of ambition in the transfer market.
Arsene Wenger's side have failed to recruit key players ahead of their rivals in recent seasons, and Usmanov is eager to bring the club to a level ground with the ambitious takeover.
Arsenal, who ended their league season in fifth place, will battle for FA Cup glory this weekend when they face off against London rivals Chelsea at Wembley.
