Chilean newspaper El Mercurio has reported that Alexis Sanchez is close to joining Bayern Munich.

The Alexis Sanchez transfer saga looks set to finally conclude as top Chilean newspaper El Mercurio has reported that the Chilean is "inches away from joining" the Bavarian club.

Sanchez had previously been linked with a move away from the club, and those links became stronger after Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The report stated that the agent of Sanchez, Fernando Felicevich, traveled to Munich to iron out a deal between Bayern Munich and Arsenal and that the Gunners have accepted a bid of €65 million for the player.

Although Wenger has previously stated his intention to keep Alexis Sanchez at the club, €65 million is an offer he will find hard to turn down. It serves as a good piece of business for a player who turns 29 in December this year.

Additionally, Sanchez's contract also expires in the summer of 2018, which means Arsenal run the risk of letting the Chilean go for free should they not choose to cash in on him now.

Arturo Vidal had previously spoken out about the rumors linking Sanchez to Bayern Munich. Speaking in an interview with Sport.es, Vidal said, "He is doing great at Arsenal but I think he needs to take an extra step to fight amongst the best in the world and that is why he has to come to the best team in the world."

Alexis Sanchez will start for Arsenal in the FA Cup final in what could possibly be his last game for the North London club.
