Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be offered a new contract by Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to discuss a new deal with Manchester United this week after the veteran Swedish striker has ruled out a move to the MLS.

Ibrahimovic looked to have played his final game for Manchester United when he was hit by a major knee injury during the club's Europa League tie against Anderlecht. With his contract with the club expiring at the end of the season, the prolific striker was expected to accept a big money move to the MLS.

With Ibrahimovic's advancing years and the severity of the injury, it was not known whether or not he would be able to return to the pitch, or if he would have to retire.

Zlatan's agent, Mino Raiola, has spoken about his client's future, saying that he will play for at least another season, maybe two. After turning down the opportunity to play in the US, Raiola also explained that Manchester United will begin talks about a new deal this week, the Daily Mail reports.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping to keep Ibrahimovic at the club, not just for the great scoring record that he had during his first season. Ibrahimovic has a wealth of knowledge and experience, which he will be able to pass onto the younger players at the club, as they look to return to the summit of English football.
