David de Gea will reportedly remain at Old Trafford next season

David de Gea reportedly does not want a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and is happy to stay at Manchester United.

The Spanish goalkeeper came extremely close to joining Real Madrid last summer for £23 million on the final day of the transfer window but the deal infamously fell through due to paperwork not being faxed to each party in time.

The 26-year-old had a solid season for Manchester United, winning the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League while keeping 14 clean sheets in the league, the third best overall.

However, the Spaniard was touted to leave United for Real Madrid following the Red Devil's dismal campaign in the league and factoring in de Gea's desire to leave for Los Blancos last summer.

New reports now claim the goalkeeper wants to stay at Manchester United and has no intention of leaving for the Bernabeu. According to The Daily Star, de Gea told Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward that he is "happy where he is" and wants to continue being Manchester United's number one.

Champions league qualification is believed to be the main reason behind the Spaniard's decision to stay.
