Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof on a £30m deal, Portuguese outlet Record claims.

The Sweden international has been on the United radar since December 2016, and it is now understood that the club have negotiated a fee for his proposed transfer.

As per Record, the Red Devils have managed to agree upon a £30m sum with the Primeira Liga giants in order to prise away the versatile defender.

Lindelof, who is comfortable playing in both the central defensive and right-back positions, could become a United player as early as this weekend with Jose Mourinho looking to speed up his summer transfer activity.

AS Roma had previously matched a £30m fee for the player's services, but United appear to have offered the defender with a better wage package ahead of their Italian counterparts.

The Swede could be the first of many arrivals at Old Trafford this summer with Mourinho eager to make a huge impression in next season's Champions League.

Despite finishing sixth in the league, Manchester United qualified for the elite competition after beating Dutch club Ajax in the final of the Europa League.
