Arsenal are reportedly in a direct fight with Bayern Munich in the quest to lure midfielder Emil Forsberg from RB Leipzig.

The Sweden international bagged eight goals and 22 assists for Leipzig as they performed above their expectations to finish second in their maiden Bundesliga season.

According to The Sun, Arsene Wenger's side face a straight fight with Bayern to pursue the highly-rated attacker, who is currently valued at around £30m.

Wenger recently put pen to paper on a new two-year extension, and he is likely to be backed with sizeable transfer kitty in order to end the club's long wait for the Premier League crown.

Forsberg already has the chance to participate in next season's Champions League, but the lure of joining an elite club could be something hard to turn down irrespective of their European status.

The Sweden international could be seen as a potential replacement for World Cup winner Mesut Ozil, who has yet to extend his Gunners stay beyond 2018.

League rivals Liverpool were previously credited with an interest in the attacker, but they now appear to have placed their focus on signing fellow teammate Naby Keita.
