Mesut Ozil ready to sign new Arsenal contract
It is expected to be a busy summer for Arsenal, as many changes need to be made. Just as important as bringing in new signings, the club are desperate to keep hold of their big names. One of them, Mesut Ozil, looks set to sign a new contract that will keep him at The Emirates.
In a season where anybody involved with Arsenal will struggle to take pride, Mesut Ozil was on the receiving end of much of the abuse from supporters and pundits alike. The German international's exit from the club this summer looked a certainty, but The Sun reports today that he is ready to sign a new deal that will see him earn £280,000 per week.
Manager Arsene Wenger signed a new contract with Arsenal this week, with expectations that he will turn the club around and win the Premier League next season. He sees Ozil as a key part of those plans and hopes that his midfielder will sign the new contract in the coming days.
It was reported that Mesut Ozil was pushing for as much as £350,000 per week if he was to remain with The Gunners, but a lack of major interest from other clubs at this point has meant that he is willing to settle for a lower amount.
