Mendy nearing City transfer

Manchester City are reportedly planning a second raid on AS Monaco ahead of this summer's transfer window. The Citizens recruited Bernardo Silva from the Principality outfit earlier last week.

According to Sky Sports News, the Mancunian giants are closing in on their third signing of the transfer window after having recently agreed a deal in principle to sign Benfica goalkeeper Ederson.

The Portuguese club have already confirmed the transfer agreement, and it is left for the Citizens to resolve any logistic issues before making a formal announcement.

City are likely to take their spending spree to around £120m with the signing of Mendy, who is said to prefer a move to the Etihad ahead of domestic rivals Liverpool.

Mendy had been linked with a potential switch to cross-city rivals Manchester United last summer before he snubbed their advances to join Monaco.

The former Marseille man followed to have splendid season with the Stade Louis II outfit, and Pep appears to have been impressed with the player while the two clubs met in the Champions League knockouts.

Guardiola endured his worst season in management last term as he failed to deliver a trophy for the first time in his coaching career.
