Arsenal make ambitious attempt to sign Mbappe

Arsenal have reportedly made a club-record offer of around £87m in order to sign Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

The teenager has hit great heights since the turn of the year with his performances in the Champions League knockouts being a particular highlight.

Mbappe bagged a tally of 24 goals and eight assists during his breakthrough season with the Principality outfit, who clinched their first league title since 2000.

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City are deemed to have tabled offers of around £113m and £105m respectively, and the Gunners have now joined the chase with a £87m approach.

Mbappe has recently cited that he is not fearful of leaving Stade Louis II, but a final move could be dependent on the advice of France coach Didier Deschamps.

Monaco are destined to lose a number of key assets during the summer transfer window, but Mbappe could be one they could keep hold unless the player himself demands a potential exit.

Arsene Wenger has had good links with his former club, but the lack of Champions League football could come to haunt the Gunners in the pursuit of one of Europe's promising strikers.
