De Gea comfortable at Old Trafford - Balague

Reputed Spanish journalist Guillem Balague feels that David de Gea will stay put at Manchester United after they clinched qualification to next season's Champions League.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with the shot-stopper in recent months following their failure to sign him on transfer deadline day two years ago.

Spanish sources have suggested that Los Blancos are confident of striking a deal with their English counterparts, but Balague insists that De Gea is quite comfortable in Manchester.

"It's a strange situation. Why would Manchester United want to sell? They have one of the best goalkeepers in the world and they want to be challenging for the bigger titles. It doesn't make sense," he told Sky Sports News.

"But what's interesting is that De Gea is quite comfortable at United and in the city of Manchester, so he's not in a rush to go unless they don't want him. My feeling is that De Gea isn't really in a rush to leave."

Jose Mourinho had heightened speculation over De Gea's future recently after he decided to rest him in favour of Joel Pereira and Sergio Romero in goal - with the latter earning his spot in the Europa League final.

However, De Gea appears to be content with the Mancunian giants as he has yet to place a transfer request in order to push through a return to Madrid.

The former Atleti man has been a consistent performer for Manchester United after having been named in the PFA Team of the Year for the third year running.
