Isco hopeful of extended Real stay

Spain international Isco is hoping to have his contract renewed after playing a key role in the club's Champions League final triumph over Juventus last night.

Los Blancos became the first club to retain the European crown in the modern era after they managed to earn a convincing 4-1 victory against the Old Lady in the final at Cardiff.

Isco was preferred to start ahead of the recently-injured Gareth Bale, and he managed to put in a real shift in the forward department although he could not find the scoresheet.

The former Malaga man has been linked with potential moves to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, but he is eager to have his contract resolved with the Bernabeu outfit this summer.

"I hope to sign the contract soon and there is no better place to play football than Madrid," he told Spanish outlet AS.

"If I'd known that the final would finish like this, I would sign up it for every season. It's the third Champions [League] in four seasons, my third as a professional."

Isco currently has a year left on his previous deal with the Spanish champions, but Zidane is likely to encourage contract discussions with the player following his regular participation during the absence of Bale.
