Leicester City approach for Gylfi Sigurdsson

Leicester City have reportedly joined Everton in the race to sign Swansea City attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer.

The 27-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to Goodison Park with Ronald Koeman keen on finding a potential replacement for the contract rebel Ross Barkley.

However, the speculation has bore no fruit with Swans boss Paul Clement citing that he does not have to sell his key players in the upcoming transfer window.

According to The Mail, the Foxes have joined the quest for the Icelandic footballer after having made a formal enquiry for his services.

The former English champions are hoping to rebuild the squad following a sporadic 24 months, and they are willing to pay up to £30m for Sigurdsson, who could take up Riyad Mahrez's position.

Mahrez has openly revealed his intention to leave the Foxes this summer, and there is a hint that he could link up with Arsenal just a year after he declined their advances.

Sigurdsson provided nine goals and 13 assists for Swansea City during the recently concluded season as the Swans managed to avoid the drop in the penultimate game of the campaign.
