Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have prioritised the signing of Monaco ace Fabinho this summer following the appointment of new sporting director Antero Henrique.

The Brazil international played a fundamental role for the Principality outfit last term as they ended their 17-year wait for the French title.

Fabinho spent his initial Monaco career as a right-back but he has since been shifted into a central midfield role with huge success under Leonardo Jardim.

The former Real Madrid man is said to have a soft spot for United rivals Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola appears to have ignored his services after committing Yaya Toure to a one-year deal.

According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho's side could face stiff competition from Les Parisiens with Henrique keen to seal Fabinho as his first signing at Parc des Princes.

United have been mulling over a fee for Fabinho for some while, and it appears that Les Parisiens could hijack the deal with a £43.75m offer in the coming days.

Mourinho is desperate to add a new holding midfielder to his ranks as he plans to free up Paul Pogba in order to receive more of his creativity.
