Man United confident of signing Alvaro Morata
Manchester United are confident of pulling off a summer deal for Alvaro Morata despite having their initial bid knocked back by Real Madrid.
The Spain international managed to bag a respectable tally of 20 goals for the European champions, though he was restricted to just 17 starts through the season.
As a result, his interest has only intensified in recent weeks with Sky Sports claiming that United have failed with a £52.4m approach for the Spaniard.
Los Blancos are currently holding out for a £78m fee for Morata, who also happens to be a transfer target for AC Milan, but United are confident of lowering the valuation.
United shot-stopper David de Gea has been linked with a potential switch to the Bernabeu in recent weeks, but any deal for Morata would be dealt separately.
Morata graduated through the Madrid academy after which he pursued a move to Juventus in the summer of 2014.
His impressive form for the Old Lady had attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal last summer before Real Madrid triggered the buy-back option in his contract.
