Everton are reportedly deemed favourites to sign Burnley centre-back Michael Keane during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old was the standout performer for the Clarets last season as they avoided the Premier League drop.

Despite this, the club are unsure over the defender's future with his existing deal due to expire at the end of next season.

According to Sky Sports News, Ronald Koeman's side are leading the pursuit of the highly-rated centre-half with Manchester United having cooled their interest.

United were initially hoping to re-sign Keane to bolster their backline, but they have now struck an agreement with Benfica for Victor Lindelof instead.

Keane left the Red Devils for a £2m sum back in January 2015, and the club stand to benefit from his future sale owing to a 25 percent sell-on clause on his contract.

Koeman has openly stated that Keane is one of the Toffees' main targets for the summer after having previously failed with an enquiry midway through the campaign.
