James Rodriguez back on Arsenal radar

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will lodge a fresh attempt to sign Real Madrid ace James Rodriguez ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners and Inter Milan are the two clubs vying for the Colombian attacker, who had limited playing time under Zinedine Zidane last season.

According to The Mirror, the north London club will lodge a fresh £50m bid for South American winger after their initial approach was snubbed by the European champions.

However, the offer is likely to remain short of Los Blancos' £70m valuation for Rodriguez, who has previously turned down a big-money move to the Chinese Super League.

Rodriguez was largely a bench warmer at the Bernabeu last season with Zidane opting to restrict his playing time in key games including the Champions League final where he was left out of the squad altogether.

The Colombian attacker was previously pursued by Wenger during his time at Porto and AS Monaco, but the club were unsuccessful in matching the transfer price on both occasions.

The FA Cup holders are also lining up a world-record swoop for Monaco's Kylian Mbappe who could cost a sum in excess of £100m.
