Lyon reveal their asking price for Arsenal target
Arsenal will have to cough up a club-record fee in order to pursue the signature of long-time target Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer.
The France international has been linked with a Gunners switch since the summer of 2014 while the club failed with a transfer approach last year.
Les Gones had placed a £40m valuation on their striker last summer, but the Gunners were only willing to offer £30m, thereby ending their pursuit of the frontman,
According to The Telegraph, Arsene Wenger is back in the hunt for his compatriot as his more transfer funds to spend than any of the previous summer transfer windows.
Lacazette is likely to cost an initial £48.7m from Lyon with an additional £10.6m likely to be settled as performance-based add-ons.
The overall deal is nearly double of what the Gunners offered last summer, but Wenger is nevertheless prepared to take the risk with the future of Alexis Sanchez still uncertain.
Sanchez has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in recent days, but Wenger is hoping to keep hold of his main asset regardless of his contractual status.
Lacazette netted 37 goals during the recently concluded season with Lyon, but the French club have given up on keeping their main man for another season.
