Everton agree Pickford transfer
Everton have completed the signing of highly rated Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, in a deal that could be worth £30 million for the recently relegated club.
Pickford was a rare positive for Sunderland last season in what was otherwise a terrible Premier League campaign. He has been linked with many Premier League clubs this summer, but Everton have come out on top.
The deal will be officially completed when the young England goalkeeper returns from the under-21 European Championships and will see him become the most expensive British goalkeeper in history.
BBC Sport reports that the initial fee that Everton will pay is £22 million, with a potential £8 million worth of add ons during the duration of his five year contract with the Merseyside club.
Although Pickford is young with big things expected of him in the future, this fee shows that he is very much part of Ronald Koeman's first team plans immediately.
It is expected that this signing is just the beginning of a busy summer for Everton, with Koeman reported to have as much as £150 million to spend on new players ahead of the new season.
