Guardiola pleased by De Bruyne's performance

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has praised the efforts of Kevin de Bruyne after he scored the winning goal in the 1-0 triumph over Chelsea on Saturday.

The Belgium international continued his fine form in the Premier League with a strong performance against his former club and this sees City at the top of the table with 19 points.

Following the game, Guardiola was impressed with the Belgian's showing and suggested that 'he can do absolutely everything' on the playing field, having become one of the club's leaders.

He told Sky Sports News: "He is doing a lot of things this season, last season he hit the post 12 or 13 times and this season they are going in."

"He can do absolutely everything. With the ball he is in different positions and can assist short and long.It is not easy to find that with this type of talent. He's one of our captains."

Manchester City have now won against two of the elite clubs in Liverpool and Chelsea, and they seemingly hold an advantage over city rivals Manchester United, who are level on points.

Jose Mourinho's side have received the friendlier fixture list among all the top sides, but their credentials are likely to be tested next month when they tackle the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
