Iker Casillas to join Liverpool?
Liverpool are eyeing a move for Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas during the January transfer window. The 36-year-old has made nearly 100 appearances for the Primeira Liga outfit since his move from Real Madrid in 2015.
According to El Pais, Porto are prepared to end their association with Casillas in the New Year as they look to reduce their overall wage bill.
The Spain international will have just six months left on his contract in January 2018, and his availability has allegedly alerted Liverpool, who have struggled to find a reliable shot-stopper.
Simon Mignolet has been the Reds' first-choice for the Premier League duties, but his position still remains under threat from Loris Karius, who is also susceptible to errors.
Casillas has won everything within reach with former club Real Madrid, and he could relish the prospect of plying his trade in the Premier League before calling quits on his professional career.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has received plenty of criticism this season after having failed to make the most of the summer transfer window to solve the defensive and goalkeeping woes.
